Consultative Meeting for the Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization Fisheries and Aquaculture Coordination Committee

A consultative meeting for the Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization (LVFO) Fisheries and Aquaculture Coordination Committee was held on 3rd August 2019 at the LVFO Secretariat, Jinja Uganda. The meeting was attended by Committee Members from all the four Partner States, namely, Prof. Micheni Japhet Ntiba, Principal Secretary - State Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Blue Economy, Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (MAI), Kenya; Dr. Rashid Tamatamah, Permanent Secretary - Fisheries, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Tanzania; Mr. Pius Wakabi Kasajja, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), Uganda; and Amb. Jean Rigi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry to the Office of the President Responsible for East African Community Affairs, Burundi. In attendance, were also LVFO Secretariat staff.

The objective of the meeting, among others, was to provide an oversight to LVFO Secretariat and receiving an update of the status of implementation of Organization’s activities and challenges. The Coordination Committee commended the Secretariat for the good performance and pledged to provide more support to address the organization’s challenges to ensure that the Secretariat continues to promote Sustainable Management and Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture in the East African Community for Food Security and Wealth creation.
