A regional training workshop on hydroacoustic data analysis took place at the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI), Kisumu Kenya, from 17th to 21st June 2019. The training workshop was attended by LVFO hydroacoustic Regional Working Group (RWG) members from the East African Community (EAC) Partner States (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda), and a Technical Officer from LVFO. The workshop was facilitated by lecturers from the University of St Andrews (Dr. Roland Proud) and University of Strathclyde (Dr. Laura Hobbs) both from UK. The purpose of the workshop was to build the capacity of regional scientists from both marine and freshwaters on the modern methods of analyzing hydroacoustic data using R software. This training is one among several collaborations that LVFO has with universities within and outside the region to ensure that capacities of scientists are built so that the management and development of fisheries and aquaculture in the EAC is based on the best scientific information available.
