THE FISHING EXPO EASTERN AFRICA 2010, KISUMU, KENYA

The Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization (LVFO) has partnered with FISHNET AFRICA to organize the first ever regional Fishing Exposition in Eastern Africa.

The inaugural event will be held between 27^th-29^th October, 2010 in Kisumu City, Kenya and subsequent events will be held annually on a rotational basis within Eastern Africa. The purpose of the exposition is to provide a forum for the diverse stakeholders in the fishing industry to share information, new innovations and technologies and sample products and services that have linkages to the fishing industry. The inaugural event’s theme is; “Fishing for Prosperity”.

The event  is expected to draw over 50,000 visitors both local and international from government ministries and agencies, Intergovernmental bodies, corporate bodies, research and academic institutions, NGOs/CBOs, fishing industrial processors, fishing equipment and gear manufacturers/suppliers, aquaculture equipment manufacturers and suppliers, commercial fish farmers, fishing communities, financial service providers, and other interested parties.

The event will include satellite seminars conducted by world-renowned fisheries and marine experts and scientists, environmentalists, policy makers, fisheries managers and fishing communities. Other side events will include fishing expeditions, water sports and tours on the lake, cooking demonstrations and a gala night to provide a one-on one interaction in exploring and exploiting business ventures.
