The Workshop to Develop Electronic Fisher Application (e-Fisher App), Entebbe - Uganda from 16th to 18th November 2022

Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization (LVFO) through IFAD supported project titled “Lake Victoria Small Fish Project (LVSFP)” convened a workshop on development of e-Fisher mobile application. The eFisher App is a low-cost electronic data gathering, real-time transmission, and analysis systems that take advantage of recent development in mobile technology. The App is able to display financial performance, tracking features such as report generation, trend visualization, weather data, and market intelligence. The App has incorporated FAO guidelines for fish capture and effort estimation. The App was developed to integrate and display information from Enhanced Fish Market Information Service (EFMIS) and Electronic Catch Assessment System (eCAS) systems on one platform and address some of the weaknesses of these two systems. The workshop was held at Admas Grand Hotel in Entebbe –Uganda from 16th to 18th November 2022. The workshop was attended by national database developers, e-Fisher App developer, e-CAS database developers and LVFO staff.
